June Krinsky-Rudder, a mixed media artist, began as a painter but quickly realized that one medium was not sufficient to express her ideas. She works in 2D and 3D, incorporating a mix of both traditional and unusual materials. As a process-oriented artist, in addition to acrylic paint, gouache, and colored pencils, she particularly likes to use recycled materials in her art and maintains a vast collection of things like dryer lint, foam, beads, glass and ceramic tile, as well as a variety of paper, string and twine. She also does digital photography, embroidery, weaving, and makes artist books.

Recently she has been revisiting techniques and subject matter from past art, recycling some of her old canvases, and using materials that have been waiting for the right moment to be used. Her brightly-colored work captures attention from a distance, but it’s her hope that viewers get lost in the details when they come in for a closer look.

Krinsky-Rudder, a transplanted New Yorker, is a retired art educator, co-founder of the East Boston Artists Group, and tireless advocate for the arts. She was one of the first eleven artists to have studio space at 80 Border Street – The Atlantic Works Building. After more than twenty-one years there she moved her studio to her home, where she can play at any time of day or night.
